The greens melted into the blues and left a thick layer to carve my letters in.
The mindfulness app I've been using lately, Wildflowers, shares a quote before beginning. I used this one for today's piece:
Whatever the present moment contains,
accept it as if you had chosen it.
Always work with it, not against it.
I added the swirl of gold as an afterthought, mostly because I wanted to continue painting. When I consider the swirl, chaos first comes to mind. When I think deeper, the swirl focuses on a single point, turning in toward itself. The center of a hurricane, the "eye", is a brief respite from the wild winds identifying the storm.
That's what I hope to hold onto these days. Not capsizing when the hard things sweep through, but rolling with the waves -- working with it, not against it.
I'm calling this one Peace Like a Hurricane.
