New territory is the norm for me, which can be exhausting at times, but mostly thrilling. I haven't been bored since high school, and perhaps "bored" was just the cool thing to be at that age so I was.
Safety is important, but so is risk. I'm reading a bunch of books about design these days and one of those is Creative Confidence, by David & Tom Kelley, who lead IDEO. Failure is an important theme in the book, as in my own life and work. Failure is hard, but it teaches many lessons. I've always been hard-headed and stubborn, so I'm well-acquainted. Rather than disappointment, I'm trying to listen more and find what could be gained from the initially perceived loss.
