I'm sad and worried about what's unfolding from The White House. I'm hopeful about communities empowered and engaged in peaceful protests, trying to give Voice to those are not heard. I'm particularly proud of our women, but also non-women standing in solidarity.
We need each other, but this divisiveness separates us. It builds more [figurative] walls and prevents more people from being apart of our Community. We are one country with many beliefs, religions, races, political views, freedoms. We need not all agree; there's beauty in diverse views. However, let's use these freedoms with respect -- for good, not evil. Enemies of all sorts become stronger when we allow confusion and panic to divide us further.
Let's not be deafened by our fears. Listen to each other, try to understand. Let's not forget our humanity in the struggle to stay awake to the state of things.
Talking heads in the news, social media, Hollywood, the church -- all have a powerful influence in shaping our perspective. (You are not that original. Neither are they.) Who are you listening to? Choose carefully who you follow, and follow no one absolutely.
